Artist Keith DuQuette

Hello! Here is the first of what I hope to be many blogs that will appear on this website. Here is some info on the catalog card creations that illustrate the introductory page:

The front page of this web site features catalog card creations designed by Keith DuQuette. Keith is a super talented artist who I am lucky to have as a colleague. In addition to his many artistic endeavors, Keith works to preserve extensive collections held in the Libraries and Archives in addition to other conservation work at the Brooklyn Museum.

While I was Principal Librarian, the information represented on the catalog cards was transcribed into a digital catalog and we gave many of the cards to artists who used them to create new art. Here is one good example – the photographic work of Trish Mayo. This was a great way for us to ensure “reuse” of the cards that were so carefully produced by the Museum’s Librarians since the catalogs were started.

Keith has created these visually compelling bookcases, chairs and tables and has given the cards a new life. He has also added some keywords as book titles representing my areas of interest that I hope to address on this website.  Thank you Keith!
